The agreement on the development of STEM competencies was signed by the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) and the Institute for Development and Innovation of Youth (IRIM). The agreement will enhance digital literacy of refugees in order to be more competitive in the labour market.
In the Centre for the integration of refugees "SOL ten persons who gained international protection in Croatia participated in the first workshop for the development of STEM competencies. IT support was provided by the Institute for Development and Innovation of Young People whose President Nenad Bakić explains exactly what it is about, “With our teaching system and the technology at our disposal, we can in fact over the course of only a few workshops, equip anyone with basic knowledge in
programming. Participants in these workshops can definitely acquire basic knowledge and become literate in all STEM areas in just a few workshops. We expect these not to be intensive workshops so much as introductions that will equip everyone with digital literacy, and Tvrtko and his team are already working together with other associations towards organizing advanced workshops in digital literacy for those whose heart is in the field.
